Do you see how these words are used to peak both curiosity and interest?

Alice will be itching to know “What did I do?”, “What does he appreciate?” She will be mulling this over. And John feels good because he left a positive message.

Now then, before you call, you need to have “laid the foundation”. Have it all figured out on what she did that you actually appreciate. It can be any tiny thing, but make it plausible. But the most important of all is that you must have a strategy before you pick up the phone.
